Nano bond fitting tools for professional stylists: nano rings in silicone lined and unlined, micro rings, loop threaders, bent nose pliers and sectioning clips. The restock shelf for anyone fitting nano bonds, micro rings or I-tips, supplied alongside WAVE nano bond hair in 60+ shades.
Gauge is the first decision. Nano runs 2.5mm to 3mm, micro runs 5mm, and the size dictates how much natural hair each bond carries. A 5mm bead takes a bigger section and fits faster, but is more likely to be felt at the parting. Nano is flatter, slower, and what sparse hair needs.
Lined against unlined is not a quality question. A silicone lining cushions the crimp and spreads pressure, the safer default on fine or processed hair. An unlined bead closes straight onto the strand and gives more feedback through the pliers. Choose it when a client reacts to silicone.
What to keep in the kit
- Nano rings, 2.5mm to 3mm, tubs of 1000. Full heads land between 150 and 250 strands
- Micro rings, 5mm, 500 per pack, silicone lined
- Loop threaders in tens, because the wire is the part that gives out
- Bent nose pliers, 5 inch, to close a bead flat and square at root level
- Match ring shade to the root colour, not the extension. On balayage take the darker
Rings go on the same order as hair: nano bond hair extensions run 2A to 4C, and the wider kit is on all professional tools. A colour shade swatch ring is refundable against a first trade order.
Nano bond tools FAQ
Which ring size should I use on fine hair?
Nano, at 2.5mm to 3mm. The smaller bead sits flatter and is far less likely to be seen or felt at a sparse parting. Micro rings at 5mm fit faster on thick hair, but on fine hair the quickest size is the one that shows.
How often do nano bonds need moving up?
Most sets want maintenance between six and ten weeks, decided by growth rate rather than by the bead. The ring does not fail, it travels down with the hair, and once it sits too low it catches the brush. That drag reads as shedding.
Can I fit nano bonds without a threader?
Not realistically. You are pulling a section through a 3mm opening and fingers will not do it cleanly or repeatedly. The loop goes up through the bead, the section lays into it, and drawing it back brings the hair through in one movement.
