Micro Rings
Micro rings for hair extensions, 500 per pack at 5mm with a silicone lined inner wall. Micro is the larger of the two ring gauges, and that size is the whole argument for it. A 5mm bead takes a bigger section of natural hair and a thicker strand of extension hair, so a full head goes in faster and holds more weight per bond than nano would.
That makes micro rings the sensible choice on medium to thick hair, on clients who want serious density rather than a subtle fill, and on any head where fitting time is the constraint. On very fine hair the bead is more likely to show through at the parting, and nano rings are the better call.
What is in the pack:
- 500 micro rings, 5mm
- Silicone lined inner wall for grip and cushioning
- Shades: Blonde, Light Brown, Brown, Dark Brown, Black
- Fitting method: micro ring, micro loop and I-tip extensions
Fitting: pull the section through the ring with a threader, slide the extension strand in alongside it, and close the bead with bent nose pliers roughly half a centimetre from the scalp. Leaving that gap matters more with micro than nano, because a larger bead sitting hard against the scalp is far more noticeable when the client lies back at the basin.
Maintenance is the same principle as nano. As the hair grows the bead travels down and needs moving back up, typically every six to ten weeks depending on growth rate. Order the shade against the root colour, not the extension. Salons buying rings and hair together can open a trade account for 20% off retail, up to 30%, with no minimum order.
Should I use micro rings or nano rings?
Micro rings at 5mm suit medium to thick hair and fit faster because each bond carries a bigger section. Nano rings at around 3mm sit flatter and hide better in fine hair. If you can see the parting easily on your client, go nano. If the hair is dense and you want volume quickly, micro is the efficient choice.
How long does a set of micro rings last before it needs moving up?
Most sets need a maintenance appointment every six to ten weeks. The bead does not fail, it simply grows away from the scalp with the hair, and a bond sitting too far down starts to catch when the client brushes. Growth rate rather than the ring decides the interval.
Are these silicone lined?
Yes, every ring in this pack has a soft silicone inner wall. It helps the bead hold its position without needing an aggressive crimp and reduces the friction between the metal and the hair shaft. If a client reacts to silicone, our unlined nano rings are the alternative.
