Hair Extension Pliers
These are bent nose hair extension pliers built for one job: closing nano rings and micro rings flat and square at the root. The angled head lets you work close to the scalp without turning your wrist over, which is what saves your hands across a full head of two hundred plus strands.
This is a professional tool and we would not recommend it for a first self-fitting. Ring work is unforgiving. Crush the bead off centre and it will slip within a fortnight, crush it too hard and you flatten the natural hair inside it. A stylist who fits nano bonds or micro rings regularly will already know the pressure they want, and these give consistent feedback so you can repeat it strand after strand.

How to use them: thread the strand through the ring with a threader, slide the ring up to about half a centimetre from the scalp, then close it in one firm squeeze across the flat of the bead rather than the edge. Check the bond lies flush before you move on. To remove, turn the pliers and squeeze the ring the opposite way to open it back out.
Keep a spare pair in your kit. A worn hinge is the usual cause of an inconsistent crimp, and a set that has done a few hundred heads will not close as evenly as a fresh one. Stylists fitting regularly can open a trade account and restock tools and hair together.
Are these pliers only for nano rings?
No. The jaw suits nano rings, micro rings and I-tip beads, so the same pair covers most link based fitting methods. They are not intended for tape-in or K-tip work, which use adhesive and a heat connector instead of a crimped bead.
Can I use these to remove extensions as well as fit them?
Yes. Turning the pliers and squeezing the bead along its opposite axis opens the ring back out so the strand slides free. Work slowly and support the hair above the bead with your other hand so you are not pulling at the root while the ring releases.
Do I need anything else to fit nano rings?
You will want threaders to pull the strand through the ring, sectioning clips to keep your parting clean, and the rings themselves in a shade close to the natural hair. Most stylists build a kit with all four and restock the rings most often.
