Most clip-in sets sold in the UK are cut for straight or lightly wavy hair. Clip one into a 3B curl and the join shows the moment the hair dries. Every set here is textured to a specific curl pattern, so the extension moves the way your own hair moves.
Choosing your curl pattern
Each set is labelled with the curl type it matches, on the standard 2A to 4C scale.
- 2C/2B Water Wavy. A defined S wave that holds its shape without product. Suits loose to medium waves.
- 2C/3A Deep Wave. A deeper, springier wave running into a loose curl. Suits wavy through to curly hair.
- Kinky Straight. A textured straight with natural body, made to blend with blow-dried or relaxed textured hair rather than sitting flat against it.
If you sit between two patterns, choose the looser one. A slightly looser extension blends into a tighter curl far more forgivingly than the other way round.
100g or 150g
The 100g sets run 16 to 20 inches and suit fine to medium hair. The 150g sets run 20 to 24 inches, for thicker hair or when you want real weight through the length.
One thing worth knowing before you choose: curly hair shrinks. A 20 inch curly set sits noticeably shorter than a 20 inch straight set once the pattern springs up. Most people are happier going one length longer than they first think.
Fitting curly clip-ins
Curl gives you an advantage here. The texture hides the wefts far better than straight hair does, so you can be less precious about sectioning. Work from the nape upwards, backcomb lightly at each root for grip, and clip in on dry hair with the curl already set.
Never take a paddle brush to a curly set. Fingers or a wide tooth comb only, and only when the hair is wet with conditioner through it.
Colour matching textured hair
Curl reads darker than straight hair in the same shade, because the pattern traps light rather than reflecting it. If you are matching from a photo, go one step lighter than looks right. Our colour match service does this for you if you would rather not guess.
Every set is 100% Remy human hair, double drawn, available in 60+ shades.
