Type 4 hair coils tightly, from a springy S to a dense zigzag. Almost no UK extension brand stocks it properly. We do.
Ask most suppliers for 4C and you are offered a deep wave and told it is close enough. It is not. A type 4 coil has a different density, a different shrinkage and a different way of catching light, and a looser pattern sits on top of it rather than blending in. Everything here is a genuine type 4 texture in 100% Remy human hair.
The patterns in this range
- 4A, a springy coil. A defined S-shaped coil about the width of a crochet needle. Our kinky curly and Jerry curl sit here.
- 4B, a sharper bend. Less of an S and more of a Z, with tight angles rather than curves. Kinky curly covers this.
- 4C, a dense zigzag. The tightest pattern, with the most shrinkage and the most volume. Burmese curly is the match.
- Kinky straight. Type 4 hair worn straight, with the body and texture of blow-dried or pressed natural hair. For clients who wear their hair straightened and want a join that does not shine differently.
Shrinkage, honestly
A 20 inch 4C set can sit at around 12 to 14 inches once it coils up. That is not a fault, it is what type 4 hair does, and it is why we tell people to order one length longer than they think. Check the wet length and the dry length before you decide.
Fitting and protective styling
Weft bundles are the workhorse for type 4 hair and suit sew-in and hand-tied fitting. Nano bonds work for clients who want something more discreet. Tape-ins suit finer type 4 hair. Clip-ins are the low-commitment way in.
If you braid or install under a protective style, the bundles are the ones to look at.
