Burmese curly bundles are the tightest pattern WAVE stocks. At 4B/4C the hair bends in sharp angles rather than round loops, packing an enormous amount of texture into a short vertical drop. Each bundle is 100% double drawn Remy human hair on a machine weft, and it exists for clients with dense type 4 hair who have spent years being offered a 3A and told it would blend.

4B folds into tight zigzags about the width of a pen spring; 4C barely shows a pattern at all until stretched, at which point the Z shape appears. Hair in this range is the most fragile in the type system, not because it is weak but because every bend is a stress point. This weft mirrors that structure, which is why it blends where looser textures never will. Between this and the 3C/4A Jerry Curl, order the Jerry Curl, since a marginally looser pattern can be coiled down with product and a tighter one cannot be opened out.

All of it is Remy human hair: gathered and kept in one orientation, root end to root end, so the cuticle scales run in a single direction top to bottom. In a coil that touches itself at every turn, that alignment keeps the hair sliding instead of gripping, which is why a properly made 4B/4C weft is worn for months rather than weeks.

  • Hair: 100% double drawn Remy human hair
  • Pattern: Burmese Curly, 4B/4C, the tightest coil in the range
  • Construction: machine sewn continuous weft, sold by the bundle
  • Lengths: 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24 inches
  • Shade: jet black
  • Fitting: sew-in, braidless weave or microring

Sew-in, braidless weave or microring. Plan the map before you start: clean horizontal partings, a foundation braided firm but never pulled, the front row kept back from the hairline where the hair is finest. Sustained pull on edge hairs causes traction loss and it is slow to come back, so check for tenderness before she leaves and again at maintenance. Full head coverage is three bundles to 20 inches and four from 22 inches, as this coil swallows length faster than anything else in the range.

Section into four to six parts to wash, twisting each part once done. Sulphate free shampoo on the scalp only, a rich conditioner on the lengths. Detangle with fingers first in conditioner, then a wide tooth comb from the ends upwards, never on dry hair. Moisturise with a water based leave-in and seal with light oil, keeping product off the seam so nothing builds up around the track. Satin bonnet every night. Up to nine months.

Be blunt about length. A 20 inch 4B/4C set can wear at 14 inches or shorter once it dries into its natural coil, and 24 inches often reads as shoulder length. Stretch a piece out in front of her, let it go, then order the length above the one she thought she wanted.

How short will a 20 inch set actually wear?

Frequently around 14 inches, sometimes less depending on how she wears it. A 4B/4C coil spends most of its length travelling sideways rather than downwards. Show the client by stretching a strand and releasing it, then order a length above her target so the finished result matches what she pictured.

Which is tighter, burmese curly or kinky curly?

The Burmese at 4B/4C is tighter. The 4B/4A Kinky Curly weft is a dense coil with a rounder pattern and slightly more spring. Clients whose hair reads as almost pattern free until stretched should be matched to the Burmese; those with a visible coil that holds its shape usually suit the Kinky Curly.

Can 4B/4C wefts be coloured?

They come in jet black and we would not advise lifting them. Type 4 hair is structurally the most fragile of the patterns because every bend is a weak point, and bleaching extension hair with no scalp to feed it accelerates breakage. For a lighter look, blend a different WAVE texture rather than processing these.

How often should the set be washed?

Every one to two weeks for most clients, less often than a straight set needs. Coily hair holds less sebum along its length so it dries out faster, which makes over washing the bigger risk. Between washes, moisturise with a leave-in spray and refresh the pattern using water rather than shampooing again.

Colour matching a black textured weft is about depth and shine rather than tone. The colour match service will confirm it from a photograph, and the colour ring is refunded against a first trade order if you would rather see it in the hand. WAVE holds 60+ shades over the full range. Salon owners, suite renters and mobile stylists can apply for a trade account: from 20% off retail, up to 30%, no fee, no minimum, usually approved within 48 hours.
