This is where wave stops being a bend and starts behaving like curl: it has bounce, it lifts away from the head, and the ends want to loop. Tapes are the fastest full head to fit, usually under an hour once the map is planned. The root must be clean, dry and free of oil or silicone, or the adhesive will never bond properly. Take a slice thinner than the tab, sandwich it between two tabs and press firmly along the whole width. Move ups fall every six to eight weeks, and the hair itself can be reused across several fittings with fresh tabs.
Keep conditioner, oil and masks away from the tabs, since anything slippery at the root loosens the adhesive. Wash with a sulphate free shampoo, work downwards, and dry the tab line properly before bed. Straight and Soft Wave will take everyday brushing. Water Wavy and Deep Wave want a wide tooth comb through conditioner only, then left to dry undisturbed.
How long does a full head of Tape-ins take to fit?
Under an hour for a confident stylist once the sectioning map is planned. Tapes are the quickest method WAVE stocks because each tab covers a wide slice at once rather than a single strand. The preparation matters more than the speed. A root that is not clean and dry will cost you the appointment in slippage later.
Will tapes blend into shorter hair?
Hair shorter than the jaw is the limit, since there needs to be enough length above the top row to cover the tabs. When your hair is past the colar bone it will blend better with the hair extensions.
Can Tape-ins be reused?
Yes. The hair is designed to be taken down, cleaned of old adhesive with a proper tape remover, retaped and refitted. Most sets go through several fittings before the hair itself is retired. Reuse is a large part of why tapes work out well for clients on a regular salon cycle.
Are Tapes a good choice for fine hair?
They are among the better options. A wide flat tab spreads its hold across a broad section instead of loading one strand, and there is very little hanging weight to spread. Use fewer, well placed tabs and keep them away from the hairline and the fine hair behind the ears.
Does a Deep Wave set look shorter than a straight one?
Yes, and the difference is easy to underestimate. All lengths are quoted straight, so once Deep Wave relaxes into its own pattern it sits higher on the body than a Straight set of the same measurement. Order a length up if the client has a specific finished hang in mind.
