Sun Exposure Protein Spray - Strawberry Milkshake Scent
A 250ml vegan protein spray, scented like strawberry milkshake, for hair extensions on holiday. Sun, salt water, chlorine and wind are hard on any hair, and unusually hard on extensions. There is no oil coming from the scalp to buffer them and no new growth on the way, so a fortnight in the Mediterranean can visibly age a set that was fine in April.
Salt and chlorine are the worst of it. Both dry the hair and roughen the surface, which is why hair feels straw-like coming off a beach and why it tangles on the walk back. This mist puts a light conditioning layer over the length before that happens, using panthenol and hydrolysed wheat protein to hold moisture in and smooth the cuticle down.

How to use it: mist generously over damp or dry hair and comb through before you go out. Reapply after swimming, and rinse the hair with fresh water as soon as you can after the sea or the pool rather than letting salt and chlorine dry into it. Tying long extensions back on a windy beach also saves you a lot of detangling later.
Precautions: rinse the eyes immediately and thoroughly on contact. This is a conditioning and protein treatment and is not a sunscreen.
Is this a sunscreen for hair?
No. It is a conditioning protein mist that helps hair cope with sun, salt, chlorine and wind by holding moisture in and smoothing the surface. It is not an SPF product and makes no sun protection claim. For your scalp and parting, use an actual sunscreen.
Can I use it after swimming as well as before?
Yes, and you should. Rinse the salt or chlorine out with fresh water first if you possibly can, then mist through the length and comb it out. Reapplying after every swim is what keeps a set from turning dry and tangled over a two week holiday.
Can I take extensions swimming at all?
You can, with sensible precautions. Wet the hair with fresh water before you get in so it absorbs less pool or sea water, tie it back or plait it, rinse straight afterwards, and mist a conditioning product through. Avoid submerging the bonds repeatedly where you can.
