Kinky straight clip in hair extensions are type 4 hair worn smooth. That is the whole product in one line, and it is the thing people get wrong. This is not European straight hair with a different label on it. Read this part before you buy. If your natural hair is 4A to 4C and you wear it blow dried, pressed or relaxed, this is your match, and a standard straight set is not. If instead you have 4B hair and you order a standard type 1 straight set, you will not be happy with it: your blow out has body and a faint texture through it, the type 1 hair lies dead flat and reflects differently, and the join announces itself in every photograph. That mismatch is the single most common reason textured hair customers give up on clip ins. Going slightly looser than your own texture blends forgivingly; going glass straight does not blend at all.

Rows go in from the nape upwards, root of each section teased lightly, middle clip pressed before the outer pair. Blend it the way you would blend your own hair: give the set a pass with a moderate flat iron on the same day you press your leave out, so both are wearing the same amount of smoothing. Matching the finish matters more here than matching the length.
Sulphate free wash, then moisturise. Type 4 hair drying out is what causes the coarse dull look people blame on quality. Comb with wide teeth through conditioner and never through dry hair. Out at night, wrapped rather than folded, and it will press smooth again next time.
Is kinky straight the same as straight hair?
No, and buying it as if it were is the usual mistake. Straight is type 1, with no texture in it. Kinky straight is type 4 hair that has been worn smooth, so it keeps body and a slight grain. Next to a blow out the type 4 version blends and the type 1 version stands out.
Will it blend with 4C hair?
It blends with 4C hair that is blow dried, pressed or relaxed, which is what it is designed for. Against 4C hair worn in its natural coil it will look far too smooth. In that case you want a coily pattern, not a smoothed one, and the clip in route may not be the right method at all.
Will it revert if it gets wet?
It will lift and lose some of its smoothness in rain or humidity, the same way pressed hair does, though it does not spring back into a coil. Dry it properly and pass a moderate iron through it and the finish returns. Carry that in mind before a long day outdoors.
Do I have to press it before wearing?
Not always. Straight from the pack it is already smooth. The reason to pass an iron over it is to match your own finish on the day, since your leave out and the set need to be wearing the same amount of heat. If you are wearing your hair with more body, leave the set alone.
Can I test a texture this way before committing?
That is the strongest argument for clip ins. You wear a full head of type 4 smoothed hair for an evening, judge the blend honestly in daylight, then decide whether to invest in nano bonds or tapes in the same texture. Nothing is bonded to your hair and nothing is wasted if it is wrong.
