A pack of 50 clear heat protection shields for keratin bond fitting. Each one is a thin plastic guard that sits between the heat connector and the client's scalp while you fuse a K-tip. Working a hot tool half a centimetre from skin without one is how stylists end up apologising, and a shield removes the risk without slowing you down.

The second job they do is spacing. Each shield carries a printed scale from 0.5 to 2.5cm and a central guide hole, so the section passes through the hole and the bond is placed at exactly the same distance from the scalp every time. Consistent spacing is what makes a fitted head look deliberate rather than approximate, and it is what stops individual bonds catching the brush when they grow out at different rates.

What is in the pack:

  • 50 shields
  • Transparent plastic, so you keep full sight of the section
  • Measuring scale 0.5 to 2.5cm with a central guide hole
  • Fitting method: K-tip, U-tip and other pre-bonded keratin systems

How to use one: take your section, pass it through the guide hole, and slide the shield up so it rests flat on the scalp. Position the keratin tip at your chosen mark on the scale, fuse with the connector, roll the bond, then slide the shield out and move to the next section.

These are a professional consumable. If you fit pre-bonded hair regularly, buy them by the pack and keep spares in the kit, since a cracked shield is not worth risking a burn over. Trade customers can add them to a WAVE trade order.

Are these reusable?

They can be reused if they come off the head clean and undamaged, but they are cheap enough to treat as disposable, and a shield with keratin baked onto it or a hairline crack should go in the bin. Fifty per pack is intended to cover a good run of fittings.

Do I need these for nano rings or tape-ins?

No. Nano rings and micro rings are fitted cold with pliers, and tape-ins use adhesive tabs, so there is no heat involved in either. Shields are specific to keratin fusion methods where a heat connector is used at the root.

What is the hole in the middle for?

You pass your sectioned hair through it. That holds the section in place, keeps the shield flat against the scalp and lines the strand up with the printed measuring scale so every bond sits at the same distance from the root.
