Bristle Brush
A soft boar bristle brush on an oval air cushion pad, and one of the safer hair brushes for hair extensions if your client wears straight or wavy hair. Ordinary plastic bristles catch on a bond, a tab or a weft seam and start dragging the attachment point. That is what loosens fittings early and what causes the shedding people wrongly blame on the hair.
Boar bristle is fine and flexible enough to slip past a nano bond or a tape tab rather than snagging on it. The cushioned base gives underneath so the brush yields to the head instead of forcing through a knot, and the same action moves oil down from the scalp along the length, which matters when the hair on the ends cannot produce any of its own.
This is the brush for straight, wavy and blow dried extensions. It is the wrong tool for tight curls, which should never be dry brushed at all. For type 3 and 4 textures use our curl defining brush instead.

How to brush extensions: hold the hair in your fist just above the bonds so the tension goes into your hand and not the roots, then brush the ends first and work upwards in stages. Brush morning and night, and always before washing and before bed. Never brush soaking wet hair from the root down.
Can I use this brush on curly extensions?
It is not the right choice. Dry brushing curly and coily hair pulls the pattern apart and creates frizz that will not settle until the next wash. Type 3 and 4 extensions should be detangled with conditioner in and a wide tooth comb, or with our curl defining brush.
Will this brush pull out my hair extensions?
It is designed not to. Soft boar bristles flex past bonds, tape tabs and weft seams rather than hooking under them. The technique matters as much as the brush though: hold the hair above the bonds, start at the ends, and work upwards rather than dragging from the root.
How often should I brush hair extensions?
Twice a day as a minimum, morning and night, plus before every wash. Extensions tangle at the root area where the attachments sit, and matting there is much harder to undo than a knot in the ends. Little and often is far kinder than one long detangling session.
